    another ser. no question

Hello, all. I am looking for info on ser. No 400712 model of 1898. I had so much help here before . So thanks to everyone. This is in carbine configuration now and was wondering if it was carbine or rifle. Thanks again

It began life as a rifle, that serial number is way too high for an 1898 carbine

    Tom,

An 1898 that started life with that S/N was definitely a rifle. If it has a good barrel, take it hunting and don't worry about damaging it.

    Good luck!

Don't sweat it.... There are a lot of " Fraken-Krags" out there. We love them all!
