I picked up a barreled rifle action for real cheap. Doesn't look to be modified - full length rifle barrel with front sight base, just stripped of almost all it's parts. It came with the side plate screw, magazine cutoff and it's retaining pin, and one of the rear sight screws - so it need everything. No rusting anywhere but the chamber and bore, but some very minor pitting under where the side plate was.

Receiver looks good. There is part of the last thread of the barrel visible outside the receiver in the last pic. I need to check my original Krag to see if that is the case there too.

Bore has seen better days. The chamber looked worse than it was...15 seconds with an 800 grit flex-hone with lots of oil worked magic! (the 30-06 hone work well on Krags https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/1007046816)

I have my work cut out for me. I was originally thinking of making it a carbine, since I don't have one...plenty of new carbine stocks out there right now, but no barrels. If I keep it rifle length, there are new barrels to be had still, but no stocks.
I have the barrel soaking right now before I scrub it as clean as it will get before final decision. Anybody every done business with http://dunlapwoodcrafts.com/military-stocks? I emailed with no response, but they are just up the road from me so I will drop in. Website advertises they have a pattern for a full length Krag Stock and will make to order. If that is the case...I need to decideif it's gonna be worth going extra extra fancy on the wood, new rust bluing on the metal, the whole 9 yards. Information
