I have a Remington 03-A3 that I have had for 20+ years after getting it from an uncle who had it probably longer than that. It is serial #'d 395928* with a barrel date of 9-43. It is all "R" marked excepth the stock which has an "E" in the barrel channel and FJA, OG and US stamped in the wood.
My question is when I took it apart to clean I noticed it has an IRON CROSS as a proof mark on the barrel in the chamber area. Is this a regular thing? I never expected to see it.
I never completely stripped it down since it was given to me unfired as there was no wear on the parkerising. I finally took her out and let my daughter put 20 rounds down range both the rifle and my daughter shot wellInformation
