    Pattern 1827 Naval Officer's sword

I'm in the process of researching information on this sword. From what I've been able to glean thus far, it probably dates from the William IV era as the pipe back pattern was changed prior to Queen Victoria's reign and the tailor/cutler (John Symons) was only active in Devonport from 1823-1850. The grip is in very good shape as the fish skin and wire are still nice and tight and intact. Sadly, someone abraded the blade to the extent that all marks and engraving are gone, but the blade itself isn't too bad considering it's age. Though tatty as hell, it still has the sword knot! Overall, I've seen better ones but not pre-Victorian. Attachment 90171

Nice looking blade, yes navy... You have the scabbard which is sometimes not present with the older blades. Very nice...
