    Texas Fires

I know alot of people from the milsurp community are from Texas. The fires that you guys are contending with sound pretty bad. I know you are a resourceful bunch and can cope with what is thrown at you. Let us know how you are doing. We're thinking about you.

Best of luck to all the good people in Texas.....Frank

I read that Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s office said 244 homes have been destroyed this wildfire season, so far. He asked President Obama to declare a major disaster, making Texas eligible for federal aid.

That can't be good. As Frank said, thinking of you guys, hoping for the best turnout .

    Jim

Being from Australiaicon we know all about fires and the destruction they cause. Everyone take care and remember, property can be replaced people can't.

It's really a mess for sure and it's been a very dry spring. My hunting buddy who owns some property west of Ft Worth where we bow hunt was out there last week and he said it burned up to only a few miles from his land. Many thousands of prime hunting land has been destroyed.

When the wind blows from the area of the fires there is smoke here 100 miles from the fires. Worst of all the fires started in different areas at nearly the same time and now some people think they may have been arson. I've heard from some of my aviation buddies and the CAP spotters say there have been a lot of smaller fires spotted that are remote from the other main fires.

The weather forecast says there may be some rain in the next few days and I sure hope it does - The last several times the conditions were right for rain we didn't get any.
