WW1 M1909 Bolo Unit Markings - Who were they?

HI folks, I was cleaning up my M1909 bolo (SA 1912) that a friend gave me and as I cleaned the wood handles, I noticed it was stamped on both sides with stamped Unit info.



I would love to know what unit this represents and any known actions of note they may have been in.





On the Right side is says: 2D. BA. F. A. (may be an E instead of an F, Can't really tell)

On the Left side is says BAT. C

Second "B" artillery, whatever the "B" is locally, Field artillery. Battery "C" or the third battery.

Nice blade by the way. Good find.

That’s a very cool looking piece. What with someone in a field artillery unit have use that for originally? To clear brush and such around where they were placing the artillery pieces?

Thanks for sharing. I typically focus on the US Military stuff that goes "BANG!" but this is one edged weapon I'd quite like to have. It just has "that look!"

Almost bought one off a guy in a pawn shop but he was awful high. Only one I'd seen in the wild.
