    100 years young.

Took my Lithgowicon 1914 to the range to celebrate it's centenary.

Didn't expect to much out of the old darling, as the forewood is pretty stuffed,I suppose if I was that old I'd be pretty battered and wrinkled too.
But surprise surprise, my 25m group was pretty fair, only fired a few at 100 though, to stinking hot and I've become a bit of a wimp in my old age.

These rounds were my pet reloads, so don't go off the beam Pete, I run molycoted sierra HPBT's and all my Lee Enfields love them. (The moly eases the strain on the old girls)

100 years young Muffer.............. I thought you were wishing me a happy birthday as that's how young I feel today! Happy birthday to your old girl.

Reminiscing about Oz with the wife a few mins ago. Heard Baby Come Back by Eddie Grant on the radio and remember first hearing it while based at Canungra (or was it Shoalwater Bay) in '68/69. It was there that I realised that however long I was in Oz, I'd always be a pom because the flies, midges and mozzies made a bee-line for me and would never leave me alone. I was bitten/stung to death! I wrote to my mum and she said that she suggested that I daub myself with that pink calamine lotion that cures...., well, everything!. I told her that if I were seen walking around daubed in pommy pink calamine lotion....................... Anyway........ The sun is shining in pommyland but it's cold and it's finally stopped raining.

Congratulations and happy birthday. I guess we must be kindred spirits. I posted this on another forum on New Years Day
Took myself down the the range this morning. Unusual for Florida we had a slight drizzle but that did not deter me. Our range/club is on the electronic key card access so I drove in early and set up and waited until the 8 am start when you can shoot. I was the only one on the property and bang on 8am I fired the first shot of 2014 at the club. And of course I used a 1914 LSA ShtLe No1. Since this was turned into a musket in 1931 and I have not yet got any shot shells I used a standard .303 blank round but the thought was there. 100 years…Wow if that rifle could talk….
The next hour was spent primarily shooting the 1942 Long Branch (pics in an earlier post) This is my first No4 so I took along a 1949 Ishapore No1 and a 1945 Faz No 5 to compare. I am the first to admit I am a Crap shot (Yes that's Crap not Crack) but must confess the battle sight on the long branch was not a favorite. I seem to do much better with the No1 ramp style sights. Somehow to my novice feel I found that the No1 just felt a lot more natural to me. I have read arguments for each model. They definitely feel different to shoot I was surprised.
Well I have some cleaning to do now so Happy New Year to all.

Well Andrew, as you have several, that comment would be a bit tongue in cheek. (you should be able to have a celebration every year with a bit of a break in the 30's.)
Pete, the only difference between Canungra mozzies ad Shoalwater mozzies was the wind off the wings.(don't you just love a sea breeze?)
Cinders, A bit of Deja Vu, I'm sure I made that comment to you last week. Which reminds me of my trip back from Townsville last week,it was so bloody hot we didn't bother to stop, records broken from Emerald to St.George.........it's only an 18 hour drive with three fuel stops, even the roo's were suffering heatstroke so the last five hours were incident free.

Tom, where are you posted to now?
