Procedure for Non Resident Purchasing Rifles in Alabama ??

Just started trying to figure out what I'll need to do......

It's pretty far from home and I don't want any surprises.

With that in mind, I Need some advice,
A few months from now I'll be heading from here in Michigan to look over a recently deceased friends Milsurp collection.
It's what he wanted, Now His Wife has asked for my help.

This would be a face to face purchase in Alabama.... with both the seller (Her) and I being Non FFL or C&R holders.
All are long guns, no hand guns involved.

My thoughts are using the same receipt I have made up for local face to face purchases with the make/serial number(s) listed, signed by both of us with Driver/ID information and each of us having a copy.
I'm planning on bringing these straight back home..
Then after getting back to Michigan, going in to my local FFL for the Transfer to my name.

Am I over or under thinking?
    See any Red Flags ?

And as a Non FFL/C&R shouldn't she be fine as long as she can show (if needed) that they were sold to someone she has a current ID/receipt from?

If it matters I do have a valid CCW license.

Appreciate any Helpful Suggestions or Advice..

    Thank You

Out of state purchase of long guns must go through a FFL at the point of sale. This is federal law. Some state laws restrict these sales further. (like N.J.)

    That's what I was thinking.
Meet up with the lady, sort out what you want and the terms, then pack it all up and take it to the local gun store. Pay the fees, do the paperwork, and off ya go.

Good to know, I'd have just chunked them in the trunk and drove off. That federal or state?

All long guns can be transferred right there, pistols will have to be sent to your home state thru your local ffl dealer.
