This is the story of George E. Wahlen. He won the Medal of Honor while serving as a corpsman on Iwo Jima. He was wounded on 3 seprate occasions, twice he refused to be evacuated on the third time he was shot in the legs and crawled in front of the lines and drug a wounded Marine back. He was then evacuated and while recuporating was awarded the Navey Cross with gold star in lue of second award. It was then upgraded to the Medal of Honor when it was mistakenly thought he had died. It is a well written story of an unassuming man that did what he thought had to be done.

I would recimend this book.
