The biggest combined operations raid on France has taken place in the Dieppe area, where Canadian, British Special Service troops, a detachment of a U.S. Ranger battalion, and a small contingent of Fighting French troops took part. The force was carried and escorted by the Royal Navy air support and protection was provied
by the R.A.F. Scenes at Southern port when troops arrived back.
One of the American troops has a light for his cigarette on arrival back. It was the first time Americans troops had been in action in Europe this War.
