    1909 Cavalry Carbine

Hello All: Anyone know what the handguard cut is for just ahead of the rear sight? Mine has a wire forced into the cut which seems to serve no purpose. Thanks, Dan

If I understand your post correctly and it is an Argentineicon the wire in question (along with another at the north end) hold the upper hanguard in place.

HI, yes, it is a 1909 Argentineicon. Between the rear spring clip attached to the handguard and the barrel band, don't see how the wire is needed. What am I missing?

That is common and normal for all M1909 Cavalry Carbine rifles. The handguard is held in place not by a clamp but by this wire.
