I know what you mean. I've always been interested in photography and had a few good 35mm cameras over the years but being the inpatient type I could never take waiting for the pictures to be developed to see just how I messed up so I never pursued the hobby. These cameras are definitely a game changer for me. Wish we had gotten one of these sooner.

Exactly the same place as me. I can take a shot with the 35mm and it'll come out no matter what. If I can see it, I can get exactly what's there. No flash needed. The new digital is a bit harder for me right now, but that's because it's a cheapie...it's sure nice to have them now to see if you need another or not. Invaluable of course for on line sales...

I was never a big fan of the rear P-H sight bolt that went right through BOTH backsight ears. Not a good idea as you can NEVER tighten them up because if you TRY, then it will simply close the ears together and nip the bolt-way up and therefore the bolt and it STILL won't be tight........., it's just pulling on the stand-alone ears!

Get rid of it and bolt the left side mounted sight to the left side backsight ear. Just my 2c's worth based on my limited engineering and equally limited experience as a bit-part Armourer!

Your not the first to tell me that. I use my Wheeler fat wrench torque wrench to torque the screw to 15 inch lbs. and have not had a problem so far with it ether binding the action or loosening up.. I have not shot it for extended periods of time yet though so it might loosen up on me at that torque setting. I will follow your advice. Cheap insurance.

Rumplehardt: That's a beautiful rifle. How does it shoot? I'd sure like to come across a similar Longbranch someday (to go with my Savage "no star"). And yes, the digital cameras are amazing. I struggle with the files- just last week found a stray 750 meg's of images scattered around on my hard-drive. The computer, amazingly, drones on without a hickup.

Though this old girl is definitely not perfect by any means it is a darn sight better than it was 3 years ago when I first got it.
