    FN49 Venezuelan Inbound...

except for some unforeseen Kali FFL transfer issue I'll be soon in the process of adding a Venezuelan contract FN49 7x57mm to the herd... was wondering what these things like to eat for ammo... I know with some of my milsurps, soft nose ammo doesn't feed as well as FMJ (bolt guns) and would expect a semi-auto would be even more fussy... thanks in advance for suggestions.... POA.

Have limited experience with this platform, having only the one, but it seems fairly forgiving ammo-wise. The issue loads were the lighter ~140gr bullet . Don't remember the MV spec exactly, but it was quite warm! Somewhere between 2700-2900fps.

The PPU/Prvi Partizan does well in my rifle as well.

Just know that about all imported surplus 7x57 will be corrosive primed and will require a complete tear down and cleaning each time you shoot some of it. Most commercially loaded ammo made in the US is going to be a bit under powered but not much. You should get 2500 to 2600 fps from it. The Prvi 7x57 140 gr. fmj bullet is loaded a bit hotter and it is pretty much what your FN-49 is looking for.

I acquired a FN49 Venezuelan a year ago. It loves the 7mm Mauser from PRVI...

I'd stick to the 139gr loads for this rifle. The 175s are good for early Mauser types.
