    Bluing, parkerizing, and paint

I'm new to Enfields and have noticed the variey of finishes applied. I have a sporterized BSA No4 mk1 and I plan on replacing the original missing wood and stock metal. The rifle is blued and worn and I was wondering about refinishing all the metal to make it uniform. Since it wont be original I would rather the rifle pass for a post war rebuild but I did not know what finish was applied to Britishicon Enfields at that time.

What are my options that would look historically correct for the late 40's?

What wood would be correct for rebuilds? Walnut, beech, birch, mixed??

Beadblasted, phosphated and painted in a hard, baked-on spirit based paint.
Woodwork, mixed BUT. All to be the same colour

    Another question, same vein...

What about a WWI dated SMLE that had been FTR'd (including rebarreling) in 1940?
