Opportunity on a RFI, 1964 SMLE..

    in 7.62NATO.
The shop is asking $260. Appears that finish is a black paint (heavy thickness) and applied quite liberally. Heck the elevation worm on rear sight is immovable.
    What would be correct finish?
any immediate concerns, this would give me a "vintage rifle" for NRA style matches and in a current / common calibre.
    Thanks for responses.

    Hi jj,

Is this a "sporterized" rifle or a full military config? By SMLE I assume you've got a No1, not a No4?

Depending on where you are... if sporterized, here in Canadaicon it'd be worth less than that.

"in 762 nato" .........its a 2A 0r 2A1 , looks like a no1 mk3 but is a later model built only by the indians , the diferance between the models is in the rear sight ,

sounds refurbed , the finish was originaly pain but wouldnt have been 'thick' nor would it restrict operation of the rear sight , can be cleaned off ,

    should be a good shooter

used to be able to get one for $150-180 , but mine have all been gone long enough that im out of touch , the price may be top end but they are a very nice rifle ,
