Need the help of M14 builders, please?

My front sight sit off to the right while looking down the line of sight. Is my barrel bent or have I not time the barrel installation properly? The rear sight is set in the middle of the marks but, the front sight must be near the limits of movement to the right of the front sight base. Where should I look first? The gun functions perfectly and groups well. I used two aluminum yard stick to time the barrel installation(one of the flat for rear sight, the other on the flat of flash suppresor with front sight not installed), it what I had at the time.
    TIA, Steve

It sounds like your barrel is not properly indexed. You might be well advised to have a properly equipped experienced gunsmith familiar with the M-1/M-1A take a look at your rifle. JMHO. Sincerely. BruceV.

I had Ted Brown of Shooters Den put a new Krieger heavy barrel on a new LRB receiver for me. It was indexed correctly, yet still shot off to the right by 12 inches at 100 yds. This puts the front sight close to the right edge of its mount with the rear sight zeroed. Tried a different stock from a known straight shooter with same result. Ted said this is not unusual. He should know. The rifle is very accurate and consistent so I am going to leave it alone.

If it is indeed off to the right the barrel may not be drawn all the way in. If it is not drawn in all the way, your headspace may also be long. You might want to check it.
