Pick out the Sedgely/Bannerman in the movies!! Quiz

As I have watched this movie ("Bataan") so many times, I feel I know Robert Taylor more as his screen "persona" of Sgt. Bill Dane!

Anyway, I won another still from the movie on eBay, which contained a good shot of the rifle he was carrying in this scene. It is a Sedgely or Bannerman rifle. I wanted to see how many features you could pick out that defferentiate it from a "real" M1903. A little quiz!

I see at least three "features". How many can you spot?

Rick, I may have an advantage since I once owned a nice example of a Sedgely. I vote for this being a "Bannerman" due to the Krag rear sight. Both of them used M1917 trigger guards. The stock may be GI, but I can't tell since the bolt handle covers the area of the rear stock reinforcement bolt. Front band may also be a 1917 Enfield but can't be for sure.
I own a nice GI stock that has been neatly inletted for the larger 1917 guard and has an extra screw hole for the front band. It might make an interesting post with photos.

Starting up front.
No clips on hand guard.
Odd shape of hump at rear of hand guard.
Rear sight borrowed from a Krag.
Odd shape of trigger guard may be a Sedgley made part.
Sedgley made his rear sights with a metal commonly called "Pot Metal"
The Krag sight is not normaly found on the Sedgley rifle.
My guess is it is a Sedgley

Good "rundown" everyone!

I noticed the funny rear of the handguard, the Krag rear sight ad what I think is a M1917 trigger guard. I didn't catch the non-clip handguard. I also believe the stock has one forward bolt, which I believe is characteristic of many Sedgely M1903s.

Unique Bannerman features visible in the picture are:

(1) Krag rear sight
(2) M1917 Enfield trigger guard (and floorplate)
(3) M1917 front handguard (no clips)
(4) Cracked Type S stock

Unique Bannerman features not visible in the picture are:

(5) M1917 swivels
(6) M1917 upper band

The rear handguard half is from an M1903 rifle.

The CMP has headspace gauges. Check the e-store.

Brownell's also probably has headspace gauges. You can shop Brownell's on line.
