    Really Puzzled-1903 Mark I's..??

Local VFW & AL Quartermaster brought me a list of the Posts' rifle serial #'s.
M1icon-Garand - 1903's (SA & RIA's) and Krags. What struck me on his list is the following:

    1 - Springfield 1903 - "Mark I" - Serial # 280414

    2 - " " " - Serial # 1065872

    3 - " " " - Serial # 1108171

    4 - " " " - Serial # 1116962

    5 - " " " - Serial # 1145787

I'm not "sharp" on Springfiled 1903 Mark I's but somehow I didn't think they were stamped on the reciever as "Mark I's". He swears they are; near the Springfield Stamp and Serial # Stamp ().
He gonna bring one to me so as to learn how to fieldstrip & clean and I'll get a picture then.
Meanwhile maybe you guys can educate me some?..

Yes, they are stamped Mark I as part of the model type on the receiver. SN 280414 would NOT have been a Mark I.

I read the above comments and also recieved a PM about my question. Additional info is they usually fall into the 1 Million serial # range.
I had wondered about # 280414 since the # varied so much from the others: Don't know yet if that was an ommision of one digit or actual #. More to be done to verify.
Haven't seen the wood etc. yet but will before long and will report as I get the info.
Any chance of someone running a SRS check for curiosty's sake?

Hmmm?! Rotor's Mk 1 looks like a cleaning project from the CMPicon! Lots of Greek cosmolineicon! The rifle appears to have a USGI park, definitely not the Greek black finish. The area of the stock shown looks to be in good condition & has grasping grooves. The rear sight is the post-1938 variety. I hope it cleaned up OK!

It cleaned up real nice. Even had a serviceable Mark 1 Stock. The barrel is 44 replacement
