Question Slightly OT, pawn shop find

Found these in my local pawn shop Saturday. Any of you Squid types seen them before? Know any details? Know what a "burships" is? These were made the year my Granddad entered active service with the Navy, so I just had to have 'em... Cost me $50 and they're worth every penny. Still clear as a bell!!!

Isn't BU SHIPS, Bureau of Shipping?

    Great find!

    SteveC,

That stands for Bureau of Ships. Our U.S. Army ATC radars were so engraved!

You have fairly common WWII binoculars, made by at least three manufacturers, I have three different versions.

The story is that Baush and Lomb was awarded contract, but they couldn't handle it, so they supplied the lens, subcontracted the actual assembly.

You paid about the right price if they are in good condition.
