    Gatling Gun?

Here is a picture of what I believe is a Gatling Gun, this one was stuck in a bit of a corner. Is it a Gatling gun or were similar guns also made by different manufactuers?

And Doug I did try to use the photo gallery but it defeated me once again.

This was the one in the middle of the room and is a Gatling gun, but there are differences.

I am not aware of anyone manufacturing Gatling Guns except Colt. I do not think there was a 'Gatling' factory. Weather they are both Gatling's I do not know, certainly the stands are not original to the guns.

Neat place---gun shop or private collection?

It appears that our Russianicon friends purchased and manufactured a few Gatlins
per this site(The Gatling Gun, Manufactured by The Battery Gun Co.) and Gatlin himself had a Factory. Colt is also mentioned.

    FWIW

Very observant John, I am often amazed by the amount of knowledge which the posters here have. There is a definite Russianicon connection here as this collection ( to help answer Dave's question ) is in a sort of a wierd tourist/sucker bait place outside of Ketchikan Alaska. Many of the guns have a Russian connection.

To answer Bob's question, I guess I just screwed up. I jump between 2nd and Gun Talk and must of posted it incorrectly.

Here is a picture showing the information plate on the gun in the centre of the room.

    Close up of plate.

Here is the gun in the corner you can see on top that there isn't this information plate ( Russian knock off maybe )?

This is a collection of old Russian pistols.

Picture of inside the sucker bait portion of the place, some nice old cars there.

Outside he has made a Indian village.

He has a nice carving building apparently the carver is one of the best.

Inside one of the buildings, you can see just how nice the workmanship is.

Last picture, down near the water he has some more old cars. This guy is a man after my own heart.

It is obviously not a Gatling. It is too crude and there are too many differences from a Gatling. Since building a Gatling was/is not a typical DIY project, it was probably made as a knockoff by some company or government arsenal. A Russian connection is quite possible, given the location, but the time line doesn't seem to work. Russiaicon bought Gatlings as early as 1862, and may have tried to copy them then, but large Russian purchases didn't begin until 1868 and the Russians didn't make their own, as far as is known, until 1870. The Alaskan purchase, called "Seward's folly" because the territory was obviously worthless (OK, OK, Sarah, I'm only kidding!), took place in April, 1867 and it seems unlikely that the Russians would have sent in a Gatling copy after that.
