but I couldn't resist. It just reminded me of old hunting trips and campfires. And there is the fact that it is a numbers matching metal untouched 1944 Longbranch, that helped too.

Scout, my Longbranch came to me like yours, numbers matching and no mauled metal. The stock on mine was another story! Badly chewed military wood bobbed off at the middle band. She's back to being a properly dressed Enfield now and is in a dead heat with my Savage for being my most accurate Enfield. Your sporting wood is nice looking. If you restore the LB that wood might come in handy if you ever come across an Enfield that has been too modified to restore. Guess you could call that a win-win situation. As for how many enfields, I went way beyond my original target of a #4 MK1 from each maker. Those pesky #5MK1's kept popping up when I least expected!! But, I need not tell you, as you already know how that goes. Forgot to mention, my LB is a 1944 also.

The last couple of Enfields that I have purchased have all had wrong magazines in them. If it was a #1, it had a #4 mag in it. If it was a #4 it came with a #1 mag. This one is no exception, has a #1 mag. I guess I will put the Savage #4 mag in it that came with the last #1. But first, I will shoot it with both of them and see which one works the best!

I am currently cleaning many years of copper fouling out of a pretty nice looking barrel.
