    Valley Forge Gun Show

Any comments on the Valley Forge Gun Show this past weekend? I didn't make it, and as usual I am wondering if I missed anything interesting....

The big deal was, unlike last year, none of the exhibitors had any machine guns stolen from their truck while they were having dinner after the show. Of course, I didn't make it either and it's only 12 minutes away.

I did go, but on the Friday night. A few very ratty enfields, all mixmasters including one Savage No 4 Mk 1 with a PF serialed bolt!! I checked them with a set of gauges from Brian Dickicon, none passed the no-go. The vendor was not happy when told this. The usual chap with an LE "sniper". No 32 Mk2 scope, no matching numbers and only $2.5K!! This item should be given a free pass as it has been an attendee for years.

Lots of "Tupperware", and any color EBR that you wanted. Very few decent revolvers from WWI or WWII and those that were there were horribly overpriced, except for one Enfield No2 Mk 1 from 1932 with RAF markings for $450. I would have been tempted but I had just purchased a 1939 (same age as me), from Empire Arms, so picked up "Howdah to HiPower and a very nice book on Mauser Pistols (Collector Grade publications). Needless to say, ammo was flying out of the doors on Friday evening and prices seemed to be a tad lower. However, I have plenty of primers, powder and "shot" on hand so no need for quite a wile. I am even closer than Louis, 6 minutes if Croton Road is not backed up! Dave_n

Not quite sure why... but I think that's funny.
