    7.62 M1 Garand Barrel Markings?

Is this the typical barrel marking of a Mk 2 Mod 0 Navy non-trophy Rifle?

    http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/v...762NATOM11.jpg

If not, does anyone know if they are military conversion markings or commercial conversion markings?

Thanks for your time and input.

Not USN. My guess would be Pakistani, but it's only a guess.

Insert, for sure. I have been told that the Pakistani Garands were not converted to 7.62mm by Pakistan. The coversion work was done in the US and shipped to Pakistan as 7.62mm rifles.

That's what I've been told, too. Dealer's Warehouse imported and sold them in the 90's. Some were near-pristine in condition. Others were beaters.

    Pakistan Garands

    I haven't heard of the M1icon Garand/Pakistan connection.

Where can I find documentaion or literature to study the Pakistan use of the 7.62 converted garands?

    Thanks,
    drharm

    Dealer's Warehouse

It is a Dealer's Warehouse rifle for sure. Parts minus receivers were imported from India or Pakistan depending on who is telling the story. They have inserts that were SCREWED into the chamber vs. the US method of forcing them into place with a proof round. I don't think they are US manufacture. I don't know for sure where the receivers came from but on most of the rifles, there was a significant difference between the receivers and the rest of the parts. The receivers I examined were pitted below the wood line. DW did refinish/refurb some of the rifles. They advertised them as "Navy" rifles but never said they were "US Navy" rifles. Whatever the case, interesting piece of history but I maintain the barrel work was not done in the US.
