    Watched the History Channel.

    They did a piece on excavating WWl trenches. Very interesting.

    What really caught my was the use of the trench knife by Britishicon miners turned soldiers. The Brits. used the miners to tunnel under Germanicon lines and to plant large amounts of explosives to destroy the Germans before an attack. Of course, the Germans did the same thing!

    The HC showed some Brits using trench knves in the tunnels to kill the German miners if both tunnels met under No Man's Land. I do not know if this is correct but the Brits used a piece of rope to wrap around their wrist so that the trench knife would not be knocked out of their hand....
