    baonet letter openers

I'm sure everyone is familar with the miniture bayonet/letteropeners, K98icon, 03, maybe others, being sold the last few years. I saw one at antique store which was K98 type but different then current ones. Had a blue blade marked by one of the many makers of these. Handle was chrome and the grips had the diangular ribs which original bayos did. Now the guy claimed it was a mamento given to German soldiers during WW11 by family and friends. I have never heard of this, does anyone have knowledge of such a thing? thanks. PS; $165.00!

    Thumbs up

The WW 2 Germanicon minitures, both bayonets & daggers were not letter openers - altho I'm sure some were used for that - they were salesman sample pieces. I've got several and have had others over the years.
I'm don't know what the story is for other countries or for the US. I have a 10½" Garandicon miniture, but it is from a foriegn country.

Use an AG42b bayonet myself. A full sized one. No miniatures for me.

I use whatever is at hand, currently a 1st pattern AK 47 bayonet. possiby bulgarian... not sharp, but it works on evelopes.
in the past, for a good ten yrs , i used a replica 'hitler youth' knife my brother gave me. it was made in tiawan. it was not a very good copy, and at first i treated it gently. didn't want to break it. but the more i used it, the more i trusted it.
it took and held an edge lke no knife before or since. i opened soup cans, and cut straps on ammo crates. i ate meals with it. it could cut up a winn-dixie steak like butter. as i said, i used it every day. it was always in arms reach. till one day it was gone. i lookd everywhere, but could not find it.
some sob walked off with it... another brother got me a new one, alsomade in tiawan, but it is ust no the same.... sorry to go off topic..
    i just miss that knife....
