    Butt plate screws

The ones on my Mk 1V are brass and look really odd againt the shiny steel.
Is brass correct, or should I look out for steel replacements ?

Brass screws? No they aren't correct. Where did you get the gun.

By Mk 1V you mean MK IV long lever 577/450 Martini Henry and not a MK IV BSA International right.

Right, the long lever. Bought the gun from someone who bought it, but never cleaned the storeage gunk off.
As luck would have it - some years ago I bought a brass butt plate for my #4 Enfield, but alas no screws came with it. The steel screws from the 4 fit the MH with no problem, but I'll have to fiddle to vice versa as the brass ones have thicker shanks.
    Thanks for the advice

I am afraid that I have to disagree! I have four Mk. IV rifles and they all have brass screws attaching the butt plate. This is also confirmed by Skennertonicon.

If Terry says its so, it's so. And when Il ooked it up they should also have a brass liner under the butt plate.
