    some 0.38 revolver identifaction

    hey everybody,

i got this 3 rounds from friend, and he told me that was from his father's old colt gun (revolver of course).
as you can see they are not FMJ, they have no metal jacket at all - just lead.
the shell itself is just a little bit higher that the normal 9x19 shell, and the slug (ptojectile) is little longer that regular 9mm slug size.
it have some crimp that fixing the slug at it's place (so it wont move) like the old ammo style. the nose is pretty flat. the rim says: "REM-UMC 38 COLT NP".
i added a pic of the cartridges and of the rim so you can help me ID this.

    thank you all,
    david.

38 Colt New Police, otherwise known as 38 Smith & Wesson
Case lenght .775. Cases can be cut down from 38 Special - which I do for my H&A top break, in which I shoot BP only.

Colt refused to use a competitors name on their products so when they started to make arms for the 38 S&W ctg they changed the bullet to a FP and called it 38 Colt New Police. This ctg, fully interchangeable with 38 S&W, was produced by all major ammo companies for decades.
A similar ctg was the 38 Colt Special which was the 38 S&W Special loaded with a FP bt.
