Go to this web sites collector section and read up there. Lots of pictures to compair yours to. There are lots of Enfield related web sites that will get you started, and numerous good booklets and 2" thick books, too. Have fun!

Something doesn't seem to match here. Stratton Vol. 2 gives examples of "Serial Numbers Observed" on P167. In other words, he does NOT claim exclusivity. It is therefore quite possible for letter codes to exist that are not specifically quoted by Stratton. As Fazakerley markings HA, HB, HC, KA, KB are noted for 1943, and LB, LC for 1944, then LA would be a plausible Fazakerley combination for 1944. But not plausible for 1952, by which time only Fazakerley was making No 4s, and they were No.4 Mk2s anyway. Where did you find the 52? - sometimes there are factory/batch numbers on various parts which may be mistaken for dates.

I think we all need to see either pics. of the numbering on the action body, or at least a careful description of what numbers you can see and where. It is possible that your rifle has been rebuilt, but only a more detailed description and/or photos will reveal the clues.
