    M1903Mk1 on VGS Co.

    Item 866353384 (U.S Rifle Model 1903 Mk-1 Springfield Armory 30-06)

Description Featured here is an original Springfield Armory U.S Rifle Model 1903 Mk-1 in cal 30-06.
Replaced by the M-1 Garandicon in 1937, it saw action up to the end of the Korean war where the U.S Army then retired it.
The MK-1 has the pederson cut out on the left side of the receiver for the pederson device that was developed in 1918 to adapt & fire pederson pistol cartridges semi automatically.
All the M-1903's were based on the proven design of the Mauser 98 pattern, being bolt action, 5rd fixed mag with dual opposed locking lugs on the bolt.
This auction is a must for the serious Military bolt action rifle collector, I have seen very few of these over the years as un sporterized originals are scarce.
Condition rates NRA Good, no cracks on the wood, all original, clean bore.
Buyer must have valid Canadianicon PAL , this is a Non restricted firearm, buyer pays the GST Tax, only ON residents pay the PST,
Shipping via Can Post courier, exact cost determined at end auction when we have the buyers address.
Starting bid is same as the reserve!
    Good luck on your bids!!!

First thing I'm noticing is that the rifle is wearing an M1903A3 trigger guard - so much for "original". IMHO, this rifle should not be priced higher than $750 or so as a refurb, regardless of it being a MkI - thoughts?

The trigger guard is pretty obvious, isn't it. Would this have been installed during a WW2 rebuild, or does it suggest that the rifle is a bitser? Could be replaced, of course. Given the US penchant for rebuilding all their service arms, it would take a serious inspection to determine how "original" the rifle is. Wonder if the barrel is 1918?

It does have a real mk1 stock, but no idea if it's properly cartouched. In any event, it's academic. an untouched, provenanced original would be worth $1500. This ain't fitting that description IMHO.

I'll be shocked if it sells for the asking price. At $800 someone might buy it, despite the originality issues. At $1500 you'd have to have been born yesterday in the late afternoon IMHO.
