John, I fell into the #4 Mk1/45-70 trap some years ago with the Gibbs/Navy Arms rifle conversion. The idea was to use spitser bullets through a box magazine to improve 45-70 ballistics. I had a Marlin at the time and was disappointed to discover that the Marlin was much stronger than the #4 and loading one in the chamber and one in the tube mag solved the pointy bullet thing. But I still have the #4, any takers?

I have a No4 in 7.62x39 from them. Works very well using romanian single stack AK magazines. (five or 10 round.)
A friend years ago gave me a chop job, so a original rifle was not modified.

They set back the original barrel and do extensive mods to the bolt, ejector, and redesign the magazine well
