SMLE Snipers With Lyman Alaskans

I have seen references here that some of these rifles are found with Lyman Alaskan scopes. If so, were they marked or serial numbered in any way to distinguish British/Canadian Commonwealth military use or do they vary physically from an ordinary commercial Alaskan? Were any used as original equipment?

1. Only Long Branch No4 T's of the 74L block will be found with Lyman Alaskan scopes.
2. Yes, the Lymans are uniquely marked & serialed.
3. Yes, they have a unique reticle & glass (sourced specifically for the contract), making them a seperate varient of the Lyman Alaskan.

This is timely:

About a week ago I saw a butt for a SMLE that was awfully like a No4T(C) butt. Definitely SMLE given the peculiar form at the socket.The bloke that owns it was ferreting around trying to find the scope that came with it.

The story is that it came back from Korea in the early 1950s.

If he ever finds the scope, I will photograph them and attempt to post here.

Could be a wold goose chase, or not.
