Well, sort of...
I pulled my Underwood "Mash Az" re-import out of the safe and called it to duty as a house/farm weapon again. This year after an severe injury, I had my right shoulder completely re-built (3 detached and retracted rotor cuff tendons and one torn) which took a long and painful rehab. One has since re-detached and I am waiting another surgery. Now my Mossberg 3" 12 ga deer and Saiga 7.62 are out of the question as a house/farm guns for now.
The handy little carbine with a AI 30 rounder filled with 110 grain Remington JSP had to step up to duty again. Even with my thrashed shoulder I can shoot it (I just did this week end down by the creek) without additional pain. I have confidence that it will fill the need against 2 legged trolls under 100 yards. I took a deer that weighed over 175 pounds with one shot with a carbine back in the late 1980s, so I know they can be effective. @650 lbs ME at 100 yards is better than a pistol point blank.
We look at these wonderful little weapons, sometimes in a vacuum. It is easy not appreciate that they can be very effective PDWs, if used with proper ammo and within their capabilities. I certainly prefer it to a 40 grn 5.7mm out of an FN2000! They certainly have sent their share of souls to the "wherever" through the years in WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Israel, and Central America
57 isn't old, but damn I don't mend as fast or as well I used toInformation
