    K98 Bayonet Help

Looking to buy a bayonet for a K98icon rifle I just aquired. Have seen these with wood and bakelite grips. Hoping to get a correct one, wondering when the change was made from wood to the bakelite or was this a manufactures choice. Gun is dated 1940. Am new to this so any help would be great!

Vasrious makers changed at various times, and in some cases went back to wood later in the war as "plastic" became harder to get. Any bayonet could be fitted to your rifle they were not paired until they were issued and a 40 rifle may not have been issued to after that and may have been been fitted with any blade going so it really makes no difference which one you put on, it coudl even have been issued with a Polish or Czechicon mauser bayonet
