    Military or Commercial Brass

    Hello,
I was shooting some Olympic 62gr and PMC 55gr .223 caliber cartridges last weekend through my Saiga conversion and I was considering using the brass to reload. Are those brands considered Military or Commercial type brass? I wanted to know due to the differences in thickness of the cases which would determine the powder charge. Thanks

If in doubt about cases weigh them. I keep an average civilian and Mil sample of each case I load for, example in .223 / 5.56 I have Win, RP, Fed, Lapua, to name a few. I have their weight marked on them. I have done the same with Mil brass I have come across and loaded. So say you come across some south African 5.56 marked LMK. You weight it and find it has the same weight as a LC 89. You then know it will have results close to your load for LC 88. Reduce 5 percent and work up.

Just started my son in service rifle high power this summer. One of the club members gave me a bunch of PMC commercial brass that had crimped primers. First time I've seen that in commercial brass, good stuff after swaging the pockets.
