I recently restored a Gilks Wilson revolver that was a spitting image of a Deane-Adams. I was curious about the taper on the chambers, as I need to clean out some rust spots.

Now here comes a piece of really esoteric information: the taper was dead-on No. 1 Morse taper. Coincidence or design? I don't know. But what I do know (by experiment) is that the (patched) bullet must be sized so that, without heavy ramming that turns the bullet into a taper plug, it sits down just below the mouth of the chamber without being shaved off, as is usual for the later parallel-bored chambers. Ignore at your peril.

I would be interested to hear from others if their chambers also have a Morse taper or section thereof
