    1917 Bayonet

I have a 1917 model Remington bayonet with correct inspector markings but the date is stamped 1918. All of the model 1917's I have seen are marked 1917. Also, the scabbard appears to be a Britishicon 1907 SMLE scabbard. Unsure as to what's going on with this setup? Could the bayonet be a fake or did someone stamp the wrong date on an original blade?

At the beginning of 1918, remmington changed the date to 1918 to indicate the year of production. The goverment made them change the marking back to 1917 to indicate the pattern. This makes them much less common. Many bayonets went to britain with the 1917 enfields they purchased in 1940. These were put into british type scabbards that require the use of a frog to mount it on the belt. So there is nothing wrong with your setup.
