Type 99 Rear Barrel Band Question

Need some help. Just picked up a Type 99 with an early Rear Barrel Band.
My problem is, the previous owner has worn the screw head so far down, I can not remove even with an oversized screwdriver. I'm open to any suggestions or ideas to remove this screw. The rifle needs a cleaning in a bad way! Lastly can I find a original replacement?
    Thx

If you can find a replacement, then I'd go after it with a tool specifically designed to remove screws/bolts with messed up heads. I know Sears sells them, and I'm sure other places do also. But they will finish ruining an already messed up head. If you can't find a replacement, then I don't know what to tell you. Numrich has the part listed....no idea if it's an original or not.

My Father-in-law found a "Bubba" 99 at a local pawn shop for $25.00
He picked it up for me and I now have a few parts. The wood is shot, but everything else seems to be there. I removed the screw and I'm glad I did. My 99 had a little rust starting under the barrel. Thanks again for the advice.

If you have a drill press and a real steady hand you can drill the threaded end out of the band and take a punch and push the pin out. Then clean up the threads and install a new screw. riceone.
