    Garand Scabbard

I recently purchased a 1942 garand saddle/jeep scabbard. I wiped down the outside leather in Peacards antique leather dressing. should I also apply it as far I can reach into the inside of the of the scabbard. also would it be a good idea to insert a piece of 2" X3" lumber into the scabbard before I store it so that it will keep it's shape
