Records of issue for No4 MkI (T)?

I'm sure this has been asked many times before, but I gave up after finding nothing via the search function and perusing about 15 pages or so of topics so...

Is there a website, or is it possible, to research when and to whom a No4 (T) was issued? I'm sure that such records were kept at some point, especially for such things as a sniper rifle, but where would one find them? Or would they have been destroyed during the war?

I ask because I've picked up a 1945 dated example and, at least to me, half the fun of collecting such things is researching where the gun may have found itself.

The simple answer is no. If the chest is matching to the rifle, sometimes a unit marking or code can be found there. I've found these markings to be much more prevalent on the later L42A1 chest than on the old No.4T chest though.
