Colt Rimfire M4 made by Walther imported by Umarex

For those of us who live in California, this is the ticket. I just picked this rifle up and it really shoots. It is a didicated rimfire that really shoots. It even looks authentic. With the price of ammo these days this is a winning combination. The rifle weighs at about 6 pounds. It is all metal. The bore is 223. The barrel is a steel liner. You can tighten up the barrel for more accuracy. The barrel extends into the receiver to meet the bolt. There is a forward assist for just looks. It even has a flash hider and bayonet mount. The carry handle will come off and you can scope it with what ever. The sights are standard M4 sights. The bolt is user adjustable for standard velocity or high speed ammo. It came with a 10 round magazine. At 50 yards with CCI green tag groups were about an inch outer ring to outer ring. CCI mini mags were less than an inch. I did not like the trigger it broke at about 8 pounds.
Once the shooting starts it will empty the magazine very fast. There is nothing in the rifle that can be exchanged or built into an AR 15. It is not interchangable. Price $599 add DROS and TAX to this. I have heard there is a Smith and Wesson out there but have not seen this rifle. Yes I do like this rifle. No problems yet after shooting 500 rounds through it. Not a misfire.

    Congratulations on the Colt .22LR.

I looked long and hard at the Colt Rimfire M4 recently and liked a lot of what I saw, but after handling the S&W M&P 15-22 I decided to go with the S&W. Not sure if the California "compliant" version is available yet, but I have been very pleased with the regular version. I specifically like the polymer upper and it's total ease of field stripping for cleaning.

I looked the "Colt M4 22lr" over pretty good today. I was not impressed at all with how it looks or how it functions. It is rather cheesy. The cost is way too much for a rim fire. I can see a great deal of advantage to having this for training and cost savings but again, I was not impressed. There was a military serviceman looking at it also and he had the same opinion on it.

The Smith looks somewhat less like the M4, but it more closely duplicates the controls, esp. the bolt release, than the Colt/Umarex.

How about this Armi-Jager AP-74CAR with collapsable stock?
