    High Number RIA

John Beardicon: I have a nice RIA serial number 400,990. The barrel is a very nice SA 6-18. Any chance this is a 1927-30 original barrel? The parkerizing appears uniform on both barrel and receiver.

Yes. There's a very good chance your rifle's barrel was installed during the 1927-30 period. One has to assume that the S.A./6-18 barrel was originally installed on a low number rifle that was re-barreled during WWI. And that's not far fetched at all.

    Hope this helps.
