questions 1st redoing metal 2nd wood

I really need help ,have pebbles on metal of gun I bought,how can I get them off and clean her up.
Second to work on wood small crack,holes,etc to make her nicer what do I do.
I don't mind spending time working on her.
Can you please PM any answers,easier for me
