Good post. When you give us the answers, will you also explain the characteristics that define the fakes? What do you look for to determine the fakes?

Yes I will and what I look for is both stamps being different than a original. Next I look at letter placement to originals. This is to box edges and to each other. Then I attack the crossed cannons which have so many tiny details that you can pick out more there.

The forgers have gotten really good after about 10 solid years of them being made. Some are good enough that you really have to look at them up close and compare on a good computer system and monitor.

Then I look for specifics that no one know's or have discussed as of yet on the wood itself and see if it is the correct time frame. Rick Bicon

Thanks, I look forward to the learning experience...

I'd say 1,4,5,and 9 are fakes, but your pics are not of sufficient resolution to get into the nitty gritty of wood/stamp interface, etc.

hate to say it but there is more than enough resolution in these to see the fakes. I have found some people just have a hard time with details even when a difference is pointed out. It is just something that happens in life. This test is a good example of this.

I have been lucky enough to photograph thousands of real stampings and handled many more thousands of stocks. I own well over 500 at this time. I even researched the Italianicon ones and have many different markings on them. I like looking in detail at stocks. Rick Bicon

    Rick,

On a second evaluation, I think they are all fake.

I'm not certain on the last two. Tough quiz!
