At first glance, the first shot looked like someone found a launcher embedded in a plank.

It looks like a M7A3 for the M1icon rifle. That's the most common post war M1 rifle launcher. They go for 35-55 bucks around here. They are unlawful in kalifornia.

Embedded in a plank? Are you It is laying on the wrapper it was in.

It belongs to my cousin who found it in my 92 year old uncle's house. He was a First Lt in WW2. He is looking for info on it. He doesn't have a garand. He, as I, collect carbines.

Who said it was in Kalifornia? I just happen to live there is all. I know, can't wait to move either. Retire next year.

You are correct Tom. Marked Acme 7266167 on the right side and Launcher Grenade M7A3 on the left side. Unused condition.
