    Original issue of Shooting Times

I recently came accross several issues of Shooting Times.

These include the originals from march, 1960, which was their first edition. There are roughly 30+ issues here and have some amazing articles and pictures. The fight to retain arms in private hands has been under threat for a long time.

The first issues weren't printed in the same form as they are today. They are about the size of a newspaper but stapled through the center pages.

It's to bad they were printed on very cheap acidic paper. They won't last much longer. They are starting to flake and discolor pretty badly already and I suspect the deterioration will only quicken as time goes on.

They are definitely scopes into the past. Not nearly as informative as the magazines available today but pretty much up on most things available at the time. The advertisements are great as well as the descriptions of firearms from sources like Golden State Arms and Ye Olde Hunter. To say they are optimistic would be an understatement.

Try to scan 'em and save 'em for posterity.

They're just way to big for the scanner. Also to fragile. I'm going to try to take some pics.
