    Ishapore Rifle 2A1

There's a rough looking Ishapore 2A1 in 7.62x51mm NATO advertised in the gun library of Cabelas web site for the LOW, LOW price of $579.00.

If I sell a couple of mine in excellent condition I should be able to finance a whole new gun collection.

not the first time I have seen this with Cabelas. It my local store they are selling a non-matching No.1 Mk.III that had undergone Indian service (and was a little beaten up, but the woodwork had been tarted up) for $400, and another No.1 Mk.III with a bayonet was in the gun library and going for $500. To Cabelas, pretty buttstocks appear to be more important than mechanical integrity.

If it were in a Canadianicon store that price might actually be close as there is likely only between 2 and 3 hundred 2A/2A1’s here. They bring a rather steep premium the odd time they come up for sale.

They have more or less dried up here (Southern US). Not long ago they were everywhere for $50 to $200. If Bubba doesn't cut 'em up at least he will have a harder time ruining the bores as corrosive primed 7.62x51 is also drying up!

So what you're saying is that if I see one at a gunshow, snap it up. Walked past one 1 1/2 weeks ago for $200 - sheesh!

Well, they're kinda cool and were cheap to shoot before ammo got crazy priced. Just generally FULL of grease, oil and multi coats of nasty paint; they usually clean up well, though.

Of course, if you cringe at the thought of shooting a No4 in 7.62x51/308w, run from these rifles! However,I've survived shooting several CQC rapid fire/ mag changing courses of fire with these rifles whilst demo'ing old tech at Ft. Benning back in 2001-2003. Even shot some heavy bullet match ammo through 'em. (didn't help much)
