Hello from Oz. For some reason my computer hasn't let me access this site for over two months. Had similar problems early on that Badger tried to help me with, but once again nothing seems to work. After trying daily, finally tonight I get through... so here's a posting of interest especially to Lee Enfield collectors.
Last Sunday I was invited with about 120 others to attend the official launch of Ian Skennerton's New book, held at the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum. I had received my presentation edition copy of the book a few weeks ago, and took it along to be signed on the day. The function was held in a new hall upstairs at the museum, especially set up to house a very extensive handgun collection donated by Ron Hayes who has co-written a book with Ian on his collection. After a couple of words/ speaches, both gentlemen mixed with the crowd and signed books.
One very striking feature of the room is the far wall where the AustralianRising Sun badge has been re-created out of rifles and bayonets, one from each year from 1914 to 1945 (missing only two).
After the festivities, a few of us regulars from another forum retired to the range behind the factory where we put together our sniper rifles for a few pictures. Two of each mount type together in place, doesn't happen too often....
Anyway- here's a couple of pics from the day, hopefully I'll be able to access the site regularly again now and will post more....
