What rifle? What mount? What are you going to use it for?
Griff,
Very sorry. It posted twice yesterday and I must have deleted them both. My bad.
The rifle is a very nice 5 digit SN M1Aall original. I will be just shooting for pleasure on a private range from 100 to 200 yards. These old eyes often need some help.
Would like something I can take on and off fairly easily to shoot open sights if I want. Hopefully, putting on and off should not affect aim point, if that is possible. Am thinking about a Springfield GI 3rd generation mount. Don't know about the rings.
The the military ever adopt a scope for the M1A (M14)? Would be neat to config it as intended.
Thanks very much for your input.
Reed
I have had very good luck with the Basset mount made in Dripping Springs, Texas, after previously bad luck with the SA Gen III mount (hard to take on and off; gotta dismount clip guide. Also you need the Blackhawk nylon stock comb add-on - laces up, easy to get on and off. Scopes, take your pick. Any 4 X will do. Just google it Basset has a good website.
thanks Griff,
Will do some googling and see what I can find.
i installed an arms mount with QD mounts that seem to hold zero fairly well with my leupold , i admitt i dont remove it often but the couple times i have its been really close when i put it back on
