    Talking My first No.1 MK III*

    Just picked up my first No.1 MK III* today. I won it on Gunbroker. Heres a link to the rifle http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=146139281
    Tore it down tonight,cleaned a ton of old cosmolineicon from under the wood. I cant wait to shoot it

    Well done, nice rifle, its getting harder and harder to locate decent whole examples of these and your price was good too.
    Just as an FYI , a little research will show you that you have a magazine from circa 1905, the one for your rifle is a slightly different shape with a more straight bottom edge. You'll get to discover that half the fun of enfields is putting them right, so to speak. A hundred years of history makes all sorts of little changes take place, so tweaking towards perfection becomes an inevitable and fun element of enfield owning.
    I thought the butt plate was interesting. Little spotty holes like that come from slamming the butt vertically into a concrete parade ground. Its quite likely that once the war was over your rifle still saw plenty of use in peacetime.

    Thanks for the info on the mag. I'll have to see if I can pick up a proper one. I had been wondering why the butt plate looked like it had been peppered by a shotgun..lol
