    Post-war Inland

Saw this at a local gunshop/range that I frequent. Looked it over and couldn't find any import marks. It looks like a CMPicon Inland that someone traded on another firearm (it wasn't on consignment). Took it home and cleaned it up--it was full of cosmolineicon, and apparently whoever had it had sort of wiped it down and then fired it. Heat-hardened cosmoline is tough to get out. Given the amount of cosmoline inside the bolt and packed in the operating slide, I suspect it didn't work very well. After cleaning it up, checked the headspace (close on the GO, doesn't close on the NO-GO) and muzzle (shows less than 25% wear using the M2 ball test). Bore is super clean.
The only metal parts not Inland are:
    Extractor and trigger - IBM
    Operating Slide - Winchester
and the post-war upgrades of flip safety and Type III Barrel Band.
The M2 stock (only mark is the number 72 stamped on the bottom of the grip) has the typical post-war recoil plate (cast). Handguard is SA marked.
The small parts to include the extractor, trigger, and operating slide seem correct for the vintage (Inland 5.4 million SN, barrel marked Inland 8-44). Inland bolt is flat-topped Type II. It has a Type III rear sight, IRCO, which matches the refinished receiver parkerization, and there are three stake marks in just the right places; no indication there was any other rear sight on the carbine.
Out the door price was $500.00 ($460 plus tax).

Good deal, you might want to tell the dealer to let you know if another comes in. I have a couple that will put one in the back room for me until I can look it over.....Frank

Look for contractor marks on the stock, like 'SA' on the top flat under the hand guard. Looks like a typical 1949 rebuild/re-Park. You got a screaming deal!
